This thing is a tank!!!! I bought this reel to use for butterfly jigging and it fits the bill. The drag is unbelievable. I own the 9500 and could have defiantly gone with a smaller size. You will be impressed.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Coyote1 Serious Trophy Blue Catfish Reel
I've used other reels, Penn's Okuma's, Garcia's and others. But for trophy Blue Catfish in the 60#+ class on the Mississippi give me my Fin-Nor Offshore 9500 anytime of the day or night!
The drag system is smooth and reliable. The man-sized grip on the handle is comfrontable, smooth, and fits my large hands just right! In fact, I now judge all other handles by this one!
Spare spools are available that don't cost you an arm and a leg" either and they are the same quality as the one that comes on the reel.
As mentioned above, I would recommend this reel to any of my fellow BOC/Brotherhood of Catfishermen, members or anyone else that is SERIOUS about getting record "Blues" on any of our main waterways, or many of the saltwater species available!!
It's a Large, Solid, Well Made, "Knock-Down Drag Out" reel that I would not be afraid to go after a 400 pound Mako with any day of the week!
Cordially,
Coyote1

Sorry for my english , I am a french fisherman : I have 4 OFS 95 for surfcasting and I have not enough words to say how I enjoy these reels and their qualities. But I would like a little one for spinning from my kayak with lures and I wonder if these FIN-NOR OF reels are really able to retrieve a braided line? I have been so dissapointed when I noted that the FIN-NOR AHAB are unable to handle braided lines for spinning because they do not have this special double oscillation which is necessary to retrieve correctly a braided line.Thank you very much for your reply!

I hvae mine lined with 130 lb power pro. We were able to stop 50 lb amberjack in their tracks. I have no doubt that it will handle whatever.Top 1000 Contributor

The reel will pretty much handle what ever you toss at it. The rod is usually the weakest point on a heavy saltwater outfit. I use Shimano Trevala jigging rods with heavy braid for my offshore spinning needs. However, you need to consider how you're fishing as much as what it is you're fishing for. You may be better equiped with a stand up conventional outfit.Details:Â
