Decent rod First off - I have the 7-6 medium. (I wish other rod reviewers would state which rod size they have.) It is a one piece rod and doesn't travel as well as a 2 piece rod. The medium is actually a bit stiff but perfect for popping corks for specks. The rod loaded up nicely with fish on and the fish fighting experience was great. The reel seat squeaks a bit around the cork with my Stradic 2500 even when it is well tightened. I don't sense that the rod will break as other mentioned. I look forward to years of use with this rod. June 9, 2012
great Flats rod Really great Flats fishing rod - very light and powerful. May 24, 2012
Wow, Completely Under-rated!!! I have 4 of the Coastal Falcon Spinning rods. Each of them have exceeded their expected capabilities and outperformed other rods that are twice the price. I can not agree or even come close to conceeding with the other poor reviews on these rods, it unbelievable really. I've landed 50lb tarpon, fat bull reds, 5 foot black tip sharks, and several Speckled trouts and slot reds... These rods have never faltered at all. How have these "anglers" broken their rods? It sounds to me like they are inexperienced anglers giving their opinions without realizing their own mistakes or taking responsibility for it. Perhaps, they have deep pockets to move on to the next rod they will carelessly destroy. I would be willing to bet these bad reviews are based on situations that were the "users error"!!! I have pulled in some heavy fish and never broken my rods. Them breaking at the 4th guide just doesn't make sense to me. After he broke his rod, one guy said, "I was hoping for a great spec, or a decent red, but when I reeled in, I saw only a 1 1/2 lb hardhead cat." Don't believe that, thats unreal. You could sling 1-1/2 lbs around all day, thats crazy! There was another guy that claimed his reel seats were off center. Well, you as the user, have to be sure you put your reel in straight before you tighten down. It's more likely he twisted it off the blanks while turning it around and round trying to tighten it down. Obviously, they are inspected before they go out to retail sales. I love these rods, if you want an awesome rod under $200, this is it! It is better than anything in that range and its under $100... TIGHT LINES!!! and go get a fishing kayak! September 24, 2011
Broke my Rod, and Broke my Heart I was almost impressed with this rod upon purchase. There was a light action not often found with rods for the same price. BUT, after taking her out only 5 times, the worst happened. I had the rod upright, felt a good strike, and saw the rod snap in my hands, 4 eyes from the tip!!! I was hoping for a great spec, or a decent red, but when I reeled in, I saw only a 1 1/2 lb hardhead cat. The ultimate insult to injury!! I checked the website for warranty info, and discovered the cost to ship the broken rod there and back, is more than half the cost of a new rod!! Last Falcon Ever, Period! June 18, 2011
