Whether you're fishing for speckled trout, redfish, tarpon or snook, you need to check out Falcon's Coastal XG Series Casting Rods. To achieve precise actions, Falcon designed these 100% graphite rods with input from top inshore captains. Double Flex Coat® finishes ensure their durability in saltwater. Equipped with extra-tough, chrome-finish stainless steel Fuji® double-footed guides and Fuji reel seats. Manufacturer's limited lifetime warranty. Made in USA.
I bought 3 of these rods last year. So far 2 of them have just snapped into two pieces. The first one was on a hook set of a large redfish. The second one broke Saturday while I was bringing another big red in. Called Falcon, they want me to ship back and charge me $50 each to replace. I'm cutting my losses and going to buy another brand!

My favorite rod
This was my first high end rod aside from some of the basspro combos. I bought the 7'6" Medium Gulf Spin. This is by far the best rod I have ever fished. I use this rod for Redfish, trout and tarpon. I can cast small plugs and minnows very far, and very accurately with this rod. I reccomend this rod to anyone who is looking for a quality rod for a fair price.

Falcon, need I say more?
Being a HUGE Falcon fan I can honestly say that the Coastal series is a magnificate combination of top notch parts and build quality. My favorite rod in the Coastal line has always been the "The Walk the Dog Special." Of course that has some to do with my preference of topwater action over anything else, but that's small beans. When mated with a super tuned reel such as my Steez or Revo Inshore this rod can litteraly throw a skitter walk a mile. That's not the best part either, it's tip and movement provide for great walk the dog action. My other favorite is the Wade fisher which is the 66M. This rod is my mirrolure rod and is a great all around setup with a decent backbone for smaller reds and trout. When fall comes and the Redfish run starts on the Texas coast I switch to the Redfish special which is the 7MH and throw them corks, sand eels, MR52's and even free line croaker from time to time. My Shimano 51mg feels at home but after the new Core and Revo Inshore debut I am rethinking my reel selections for the rest of my Coastal setups. *Note I highly recommend the Walk the Dog Special 69L, for a more spirited fishing experience. Enjoy!

the components used , like the guides they stand up to saltwater better on saltwater rods, but there are many people that use freshwater rods in saltwater , just make sure you don't skip the cleaning , after the day is over.rinsing your rods with freshwater is all thats needed.
