I bought my Excalibur Vortex about seven months ago. I really didnt know much about crossbows. I had two friends at work that knew crossbows. One who owned an Excalibur, and one who wish he did. After a few months of doing my research I decided to go with the Excalibur. I then had to decide which model. I had it down to the Equinox and the Vortex. I spent hours at Bass P. holding these two bows and finally decided I liked the feel of the Vortex better. I have owned mine now for seven months, and have never looked back, I love this bow. It will bring down anything I want it to including a sasquatch and the quality is first rate. There are faster and fancier looking bows out there but you wont get a better quality one than an Excalibur.

I recently purchased A Vortex Shadow Zone Package and could not be happier. Quick Tip, I laser sighted my scope using a Laserlyte bore sighter and it worked perfectly. It layed in the arrow channel and was held firm by the bow string. First shot at 20, 30 & 40 yards were dead on. If this worked for me, maybe it can work for others. Can't wait to get into the woods for Deer Season. I will never own anything but an Excalibur crossbow. Keep up the good work Excalibur!

After shooting compound bows for a while, I wanted to try a crossbow. I've been reading up on crossbows for about a year and everything I read always seemed to come back to the Excalibur recurve brand of crossbows.
I wasn't disappointed at all when I purchased my Vortex. It is built like a tank, looks great and shoots awesome. I bought some Carbon Express Surge bolts, (flew better in my opinion than the Easton bolts that came with it) and I take it out 3 - 4 times a week, if not for target practice, then for attempting to thin out the coyote population around us.
At 200# it has plenty of speed and punch, and is actually easy to pull back with the cocking rope. I have even gone as far as shooting at 70 yards and placing 4 bolts within a 4 inch diameter. Not bad for an approximation on the scope.
My only problem is the days are to short....

This was my first crossbow and I did a lot of research, the Vortex was the one I decided on. I decided on a recurve because compounds weigh much more and I'm glad I made that choice. Crossbows are much more cumbersome and heavy to carry than a bow and even the Vortex isn't a joy to carry, but I was amazed at the accuracy. I've split so many bolts I never target shoot at the same spot any more. I've since taken many deer with it and look forward to many years of use, this thing is fantastic. I've never had any regrets. Don't skimp on the price and you won't lack quality. I hate to admit it but I've actually dry fired it twice by accident. After close examination both times there was absolutely no damage. I'd recommend this crossbow to anyone.
