Recurve really is simply perfect This is my first crossbow purchase and experience, and I couldn't be happier with my decision to purchase the IBEX SMF by Excalibur. I was torn between a Parker Enforcer and the Excalibur Axiom. Well, after looking and researching information on the two, with both being great crossbow companies, I decided the simplicity, reliability, and accuracy of the Excalibur was for me. After shooting and sighting in the Axiom the salesman introduced me to the IBEX SMF and pointed out the thumb hole design in the stock. I shot and sighted in the IBEX and was hooked instantly. It was amazing to see just how much of a difference in feel and confidence the IBEX's thumb hole provided for me over the Axiom's traditional design. This is a solid crossbow that didn't take anytime to sight in and is a blast to shoot. I'm looking forward to the upcoming hunting season as this will be my first time. Well, I can say that my Excalibur IBEX SMF recurve crossbow has me feeling comfortable and confident. If you're looking for a solid yet simple design crossbow that's been proven in the field time and time again then an Excalibur crossbow won't disappoint. I love my IBEX SMF and Bass Pro Shop archery techs were great at explaining everything and ensuring that I was satisfied with my purchase. August 22, 2012
Beauty Bow ! Just picked the IBEX up and it's perfect, nice sight line, great balance, and most importantly a comfortable grip. Impressed with cocking ease, light weight, beauty camo pattern, easy maintenance, durability. Bass Pro Staff were knowledgeable and patient explaining the pro's and con's and did an excellent job sighting in the bow and showing me how to sight in if I have any issues. I hunt in swamp, heavy timber and thickets and the IBEX handled it all .. Nice profile to get thru tight spots, and camo stood up against the constant hits against brush and saplings. Excalibur can not be beat .. Hardest part is choosing which crossbow to buy .. To be honest, can't go wrong with the IBEX. January 17, 2015
Accurate/Powerful After sighting in at 10 and 20 and narrowly avoiding splitting arrows, I tried shooting at 30 yards. Shot two bolts. At first I was dissappointed I couldnt see where the 2nd bolt hit. As I approached the target I realized they were touching side by side. This happened several times until I noticed the nocks were dented on some of my arrows. Wow. At 40 I got 1.5 inch groups and at 50 2-3 inch groups. After practicing a little, Im confident I could hit a deer or hog at 50. The speed is more than adequate with the Flemish string but the excel string it comes with is more than adequate at 40 yards or less. July 18, 2012
Santa hooked me up! Got this crossbow a few days after Christmas with gift cards and let me tell you this thing is awesome. The guy at the store helped me sight it in and I purchased the xbow with the S5 String Shock Sound Suppression System. Spent the day shooting it yesterday and it worked flawlessly. First four bolts downrange came so close together that one got nicked and I had to aim at different targets so I wouldn't split one. I was on the fence between this and the Axiom but chose to spend the extra $40 for the pistol grip. That was a well spent $40! I could go on and on about how great this bow is but ultimately all I would be saying is that I highly recommend you check one out at a shop or just go ahead and buy it. Trust me you will not regret it! December 30, 2012

The Matrix 380 and 405 have the anti dry fire system built in. It's very simple, but it is also effective.

Thank you for your inquiry. No, the Ibex SMF does not come standard with the Guardian anti dry fire but it can be purchased separately.

Yes since its a recurve not a compound it won't destroy it but don't make a habit of it. Hope this helps you.

It does come with a scope if you get the right stuff package. The scope is a $300 scope. It's an 8 out of 10. I like it, but it could be better. Lots of parallax, but from what I've read, that's true of all crossbow scopes.
