Deer Love it !!!!!!!!
I have stumps around my food plots covered in this stuff. Deer will make a stump disappear in a couple months. Turkeys seem to scratch at it too.

I put this out 4 weeks ago along with my feeder. Went back last weekend to check on both and was I amazed! Not only had deer visited my feeder but had already "tore up" my Deer Cane site. This got my attention quick! When I checked my camera I got another surprise. One of the biggest bucks we have seen was standing by the site. I'll definately keep this system working.

Need a hole dug?
This stuff is great and cheap. I've used it in WV and PA, and it works great in both locations. For me, it takes the deer about a month to get on it, but once they do, they are hooked. I refresh the about every 3 to 6 months depending on use.
Deer definitely use it more in the spring more than any other time, probably because there isn't much to eat. But they do use it all year round.
The best part is going back to your spot and finding an 8" deep hole in the ground...it's crazy.
Throw it out, water it down, give it about a month, and then go back and check it. And If there are any deer around, they should be on it. Great product for the price!!!!!!

Give it time
Anyone who thinks you can dump this out and deer will come running or that it will work as an attractant during hunting season are bound for disappointment. These mineral sights are a long term project. Most of my deer cane sights are better in their second year. Deer will hit it hard May thru September, then pretty much ignore it the rest of the year. It's important to get it established at least a month or so in advance. Create the lick site in late March or early April. Plan on refreshing it with about a half bag in June. Use more water then the directions indicate unless you are gotting alot of rain. Once they start using it, they'll return year after year.

Yes it will still work but you have to do it properly. You have to dig a whole and mix it in with the dirt. But, you will notice that usually only use the mineral when it rains. They like soft ground because it makes for easy digging and licking.
yes. you can mix it with water and yes you can poor it on the ground. BUT with the past 8 years of using the deer cane poweders i have found that if you live in an area where u get plently of rain in the fall the best thing to do is dig a hole jus big enough for the bag, but a few decent size cuts in the bag, and set the bag in the hole with the cuts facing down, and the sprinkle about a cups worth of the powder on the ground. there are several ways to set this stuff up but like i said it depends on the area.
