Not very accurate Here is what the scale came up with. I weighed hand weights in a plastic bag. I am returning this Weight in bag is on the left, weight register with GG is on the right. 1# = 0# 2# = 0# 3# = 1# 4# = 2.5# 5# = 3# 6# = 4# 7# = 5.5# 8# = 6.5# 9 # = 8# 10# = 9 11# = 10# 12# = 11# 13# = 12.5# 14# = 13.5# 15# = 15# 16# = 16# 17# = 17# So unless you only catching fish that are over 15# this scale is no good. Worked great We used the Gorilla Grippers while pier finshing in NC. Made handleing the fish easy and being able to get the weight just befor releasing. September 20, 2011
Great Mid-Level Gripper Like others, was hesitant about getting these over the Boga Grips, have used both, and the Gorilla Gripper is just as good as the Boga. Yes the scale is not EXACT, but when you need to land that fish with teeth, these will hold up and are MUCH less expensive than the Boga's. I have used these on Snook, Jack Cravelle and Barracuda and each time... NO SLIP, Easy landing. The 6" accessory float will keep these floating, tried and trusted. Carry-On. December 31, 2012
Worth the Money I was a little hesitant but I purchased the Gorilla Gripper instead of the Boga Grip and I’m glad I did. I’m not sure if the scale is accurate but I did not buy it for the scale, just for handling large striper. I have used them for 5 trips so far and they handled MANY large fish and have worked flawlessly. Great purchase and saved me some money! June 12, 2012

This is important when a fish like a pike starts to twist and roll. If the head doesn't spin, it will rip and tear the mouth and injure the fish.

A:
The head does spin like the Boga, but the very first fish I used this on was a very nice 21" flounder that had to have been at least 5 Lbs. and the Gorilla Grip didn't even register the weight. The locking jaws did work out nicely, but you can buy a tool that just locks the jaws in, and swivels, for about 20 bucks less. If all you need is a lip gripper, I'd look for a different tool because the weight scale was not accurate at all.

Most of the grippers on the market have limits on how much weight they should be used for.

A:
The one I bought is rated up to 60 Lbs., but I used it on a 21" flounder and the weight didn't even register one Lb. I noticed a review by a different user who tested the spring scale's calibration and found that anything under 15 Lbs. didn't register correctly on the Gorilla Gripper. Sometimes the old saying "You get what pay for" is true. In this instance however, a lip gripper that swivels can be had for 20 bucks less, so the saying doesn't really hold true here.

The Gorilla Grippers have a 30lb and 60lb option. I konw that only relates to the scale, but I have caught an 11 lb Snook and these barely even moved. (30 lb. option)
