When I saw this I was really excited as I love hand-crack ice cream churns. Had to get a raincheck at the Myrtle Beach store and make 3 trips to get it... Used it for the first time this week.... SO VERY DISAPPOINTED.
I read and followed all the instructions. Started with the motorized crack and it stalled out quickly, smelling as though it over-heated and I wasn't even making a full churn. Changed to the hand-crank and the connection between the mixer shaft and the "motor" was not tight and the lid on the canister kept slipping, causing the lack of rotation ... thus not making ice cream.
ONE TIME... that's all I used it. Unfortunately, I don't have my receipt but hoping they will at least give me a store credit.

I have used this machine a few times and it is wonderful. It is smooth and quiet. I like that it is 6 quarts and makes a lot of ice cream. The wooden bucket is nice and seems to insulate well.

ice cream machine
this machine works ok if you don't put to much salt and ice in it .it's big, a little ice and salt goes along way.i would say just enough to cover 3/4 of the can, keep an eye on it till you know it won't stall the motor.try to keep the rock salt off the can
