I have the older gold carrot stix mated with a Shimano Curado and I have to say that this is by far the best rod/reel combo I have ever used. I can cast it a mile. This rod allows me the ability to tell the different texture of the logs and grass I often fish. Its almost like your hand is on the end of the line. I would recomend this rod to anyone. It is extremely durable too. I have landed many nice fish with this rod including many 10+lbs blue and channels. I am not out fising for them but when they hits your jigs and cranks what can you do. Has all the backbone you could want and coupled with the sensitivity it is hard to beat.

very sensitive, very light weight, great rod! not a big fan of micro guides though, i wish they had some sort of mini guides (in between micro and regular).

have a number of carrot stixs and have had 2 broken both my fault but contacted customer service which did take a few weeks but when they did not have my model avialable they actually upgraded from the professional grade to their top of the line microguide series which is an awesome rod light sensitive and quite honesty looks cool with its metallic orange/gold paint scheme. had a kistler brake and the warranty was garbage had to fight to get something and then had to pay basically half the original cost of th rod to get it replaced just after 14 months. Carrot stixs on the other hand stands behing their lifetime warranty.

do these rods have fast tips then? also has anyone used these for swimbaits?Answers
A:Â
I use this rod for all around fishing. Bass and Saltwater. yes, swim baits are easy to use on this rod.A:Â
They are fast not super fast. I have a gold carrot stick that I have had for a couple of years and i have fished just about every style of bait with it. I am not a swimbait fan but have had a lot of luck using them on this rod. It is slightly stiff tipped but still allows for all the finesse you would wantTop 500 Contributor

I love my Carrot Stix's but I think they are more suited to plastics fishing rather than swimbaits... none of mine (have 5) have that soft a tip.Top 50 Contributor
A:Â
Yes the 7'8" has a fast tip and the 8' rod is extra fast on the tip and both are nice for swimbaits. The 8' rod is 2X Heavy so it's for bigger swimbaits.Images for this Answer

which would you recommend for flippin', the E21 or St. Croix Legend Tourney? thanksAnswers
A:Â
love my carrot stix much better than my legend tourney for flippin. Carrot stix seems lighter and more senstive.Top 50 Contributor
A:Â
I would go with the St.Croix because I don't like small guides for flippin'. Small guides are better making longer casts. Also look at the BPS Johnny Morris Signature Series, BPS Big Bass Nitro, and BPS Extreme rods in the 7'10" one piece models.Images for this Answer

carrot stix wild, very light and you feel everything !!A:Â
St. Croix. I broke a 7' heavy carrot stix in less then a year on a fish and can't get ahold of their warrenty center for replacement. They will not return calls or emails.A:Â
deffently carot stick! but i lake the carbon light more!! the carbon light is sooooo much lighterDetails:Â
Im in between a Duckett 7'3" MH and a Carrot micro god 7'3". I would like to know which one is lighter. If anyone has compared the two, an answer would be greatly appreciated. ThanksAnswers
A:Â
i have 1 of the micro guide carrot stixs.. my friend has the duckett.. i have used both on a quantom smoke and i can honestly say the carrot stix is a little lighter and that is not just because i own one .. these are 2 of the lightest rods around.. but in the overall picture they are both quality rods worth the moneyA:Â
the duckett is by far a better rod, get that..trust me!A:Â
THE CARROT STIX ROD IS LIGHTER.THE 7' MEDIUM HEAVY CARROT STIX ROD IS LIGHTER THAN DUCKETT 7'6' FLIPPIN ROD.Details:Â

The small guides improve your casting distance as well as increasing rod sensitivity, the 11 guides also works to eliminate rod tangles and line wrapping while allowing thick diameter lines like 65-pound braid to shoot through easily.Images for this Answer

sensitivety.. i love themA:Â
Line stays closer to rod during cast making it easier to cast further.A:Â
the micro guides help the line stay closer to the blank when casitng so there is less line flutter. This enables the bait to be cast further and more accurate than normal guides. I have a few of both and I can really tell the differenceTop 500 Contributor
A:Â
With the reduced line flap the micro guides allow you to cast further!Answers
A:Â
have both the 21 carrot gold and the micro guide and the line just seems to flow off the micro guide a little smoother. but the 21 cg has smaller than normal guides I found though so it might just be how I have the reel set up on both. like the metal butt cap on the 21q cg better than the micro guide version though so you wont go wrong with either.Top 50 Contributor

The Micro guides are MUCH higher quality then the guides on the other however this rod is sub par on many levels per its price range. if you want to spend 200 bucks on a rod buy you a Daiwa Zillion rod you will have a FAR better rod... if you have to have a Carrot get you a last years model GOLD model on sale for a 100 bucks at least you wont have wasted 200 and they are a fair rod at the 90-100 you can get them at.Images for this Answer

JAG,I use Berkley Fireline and P-Line Premium. One can actually cast about 10% further with added sensitivity because of the micro guides and the fact ther are more guides in contact with the line. The real fact, in my opinion is that the rods have that real strong tip strength that enhances everything.
