Snapped in half the very first time I tried releasing it from my downrigger offshore by Santa Cruz, Calif. Unfortunately, lost a salmon as a result, and it was a tough bite that day. Recommend you purchase a salt water ugly stik. I've used them for years w/o any failures.

I currently have four and am getting four more soon. I use with downriggers and they show no original memory loss after years of trolling. Non-downrigger rods retain an arch after regular use with downriggers.

These are excellent rods for trolling but they work just as well for big catfish, stripers or any large hard fighting fish including light saltwater species. They are one of the best rods in this price range that will provide a variety of angling applications. They are quality made, durable and dependable.
