Great for hunting Great for hunting and the 1 MOA center dot is small enough that I can shoot accuratey at 300 yards. December 8, 2010
Works great for dense bush I have used Holographic sights for 10 years and this Eotech has a larger window and a protective hood that my last sight did not. Works like a charm and I highly recommend this sight for those who hunt in dense brush as you can use with both eyes open. This sight locks in quickly so fast moving game that provides a short window of opportunity are in danger if you use this sight. October 25, 2010
Quality products I purchased a Eotech weapon sight for my 6.8 spc rifle. It is made durable and is a perfect match for my flattop AR-15. BassPro was very helpful explaining the benefits of this site and how it worked. This may not be the cheapest site you can buy but it is worth every penny and it will not let you down when you need it most. October 17, 2010
Eotech M512 Really nice sight. It's very adjustable, and can go from very dim, to super bright. Very rugged body, I've never had an issue with it not staying true. Battery life is great, I stick to the lithium's for storage reasons. It was pretty fast to get sighted in. Field of view seems much better from other HOLO's I have tried. July 29, 2010

If you have the rails the bars will drop between them and secure tight i prefer the allen heads on the side over the thumb screw it seems to to be rock solid even with the high caliber AR's.

If it will take the recoil of the 460, is there anything else that might not make this the right scope for this handgun?

It will take the recoil but it may be a little large for a pistol. Try a small halo instead maybe the relex style.

Interested in mounting this on an AR, but does it work with iron sights in place, or is this for "flat top" rifles only?

Might sit high if you use a carry handle mount but it will fit. You will need a mount for carry handle if you have a fixed handle.

THey make a see thru adapter for around $10 to fit it on an Ar or M16 carry handle. It fits on the standard top with nothing added. When you use this you will NEVER use the iron sights again anyway. I use good batterys and replace then twice a year but have never had them go dead.

You can mount this on an AR with a carry handle, you just need to install a removable picatinny scope rail.

I have read some reviews for this product and can't seem to get the same results. One review said "good to 300 yards". When adjusting the scope, at 200 yards the target was so small I was not comfortable when siting it in. I wouldn't feel good at 200 yards (forget 300) that I would have a kill shot. I do NOT have the extra $500 magnifier.
Any suggestions? Am I just too old fashion? Should I just go back to a regular scope? Need some ideas

Frankly I do not see this as a long range optic. It was prouduced to use on Law Enforcement and Military weapons but works well for small game or I have heard Turkey. It will get on target faster then anything you own. As you are aware with the holograph you do not even have to be inline with the sight to obtain a good target. If this is to be your only optic for hunting and you shoot long range you have the wrong thing. SWAROVSKI: there is none better. Try the Z5.

I have no trouble hitting a man size target at 300 yards with my EOTECH 512. The EOTECH is a great close quarters optic.

It should work with the proper mount. Several companies make scope mounts for Mini-14s that will allow this sight to be mounted. It should make a fine setup.

This holographic sight will work great on any rifle with a standard Picatinny rail system. Be sure to get a ScopeCoat to protect the sight against damage.
