The Bass Pro Shops® E-Z Lure Retriever Kit rescues all lure types—even live bait rigs. Its unique design takes it easily past sinkers and hardware. For lures too well snagged to be bounced free, the chains will entangle the hooks, allowing you to pull the lure free with the added feature of a wind-up line retriever. Includes 30' cord.

Pays for itself many times over. I use the real for storage only, perhaps that is why I have not had issues with it thus far. I have only used this product from a boat, others on shore seem to have had issues, I can not address that. For me it has been a money saver, if I lose it, I'll gladly replace it. When you get a $17.00 lure stuck, and this gets it free, it has paid for itself. Were the real a little more user friendly I would rate this 5 stars. April 13, 2011
saves lures/money I have two boats, have one in my aluminum boat and have one in my bass boat. I have saved crankbaits many times. If you save two it has paid for itself. Anything after that is a bonus. I glued the knots when I took it out of the package. Summer months I throw DD22s quite a bit, I also get them hung up quite a bit. I Know that I save somewhere around 9 out of 10. Thats nine I don't have to replace. Well worth it. August 9, 2007
It works I have only used it once but it has already paid for itself. I was hung up too deep to reach with the rod tip so I used this. The crankbait would not bump free but I did manage to get the trebles in the chain and yank it out. You have to be directly over top of the bait to get the chain entangled and it is not easy to do but if you can it works well. I think a little different design would work better. June 28, 2011
lure retriver i have actually got 2 of these i lost the first one because it got snagged and the twine snapped and i lost it so i got another one and it snagged on rocks trying to retrive a crank bait and lucky for me a fisherman on a small boat used his net to wiggle the rocks loose, dont get me wrong this has paid for itself a few times over it has saved quite a few cranks for me along with rattle traps. Most lure retreivers I've seen only work when you can get directly above the stuck lure. Will this one work for shore fishermen?

Yes you can use it from shore. Hold the line tight and the retriever slides down your fishing line. Bounce the retriever until it's chain grabs the hooks on your lure and bring it in.

i have used it from the shore... it might just be me not knowing how to use it, but when i did use it from the shore, it couldnt even reach the lure, and its not because my lure was stuck too far... the retriever got stuck in the rocks itself, so i lost both lure and retriever

I have not tried it from shore. You pretty much need to be almost directly above the stuck lure for it to be effective. If you have this type of condition from shore, it will work good. From the boat, in the wind or where there is water current, this is not as effective.
