The Bass Pro Shops® E-Z Lure Retriever Kit rescues all lure types—even live bait rigs. Its unique design takes it easily past sinkers and hardware. For lures too well snagged to be bounced free, the chains will entangle the hooks, allowing you to pull the lure free with the added feature of a wind-up line retriever. Includes 30' cord.

Lure Retriever Bought this and it looks good and tough in the picture. In reality nothing wrong with the Retriever but the string is lighter than I run on my Bass Rig and the Reel looks like something out of a Bubblegum machine. You will at least need to get stronger String for the Retriever. January 14, 2015
lost retreiver Worked great... untill the string came off and I lost it!! November 9, 2006
Money saver I agree with other reviewers about quality of this item. The reel is very cheaply made, and the hole in the weight for the line pulled thru but what can I say? It saves $$$. I drilled a new hole farther back and it works fine. I estimate it saves snagged lures about 95 percent of the time. If you don't have 1, you're missing the boat and losing lures you could retrieve. I wouldn't be without it. Buy the one without the reel and use an old baitcaster. December 5, 2008
Plastic "reel" is poor quality But that's about it. THe retriever is grand. It is heavy and well made. If you sink your favorite crank into a snag, just hammer on it with this baby and you're sure to get it back. While the plastic reel is almost a necessity to keep all of the line contained, it is about the cheapest plastic construction imaginable and falls apart in your hands. I had an old automatic fly reel that was missing it's cleat, so I stripped the line and filled it with my reitriever line and called it good. Now I have a custom made super-duper crankbait retirever. Buy one--it'll save you money and heartache. October 7, 2008

Most lure retreivers I've seen only work when you can get directly above the stuck lure. Will this one work for shore fishermen?

Yes you can use it from shore. Hold the line tight and the retriever slides down your fishing line. Bounce the retriever until it's chain grabs the hooks on your lure and bring it in.

i have used it from the shore... it might just be me not knowing how to use it, but when i did use it from the shore, it couldnt even reach the lure, and its not because my lure was stuck too far... the retriever got stuck in the rocks itself, so i lost both lure and retriever

I have not tried it from shore. You pretty much need to be almost directly above the stuck lure for it to be effective. If you have this type of condition from shore, it will work good. From the boat, in the wind or where there is water current, this is not as effective.
