Driftmaster® Pro or L'il Pro Rod Holders
I bought some of these holders to catfish with live bait. I mounted them on my aluminum boat and they work great. So far I have caught flatheads up to 41 lbs so they will hold!! I like the quick and easy removal feature because I use my boat to deer hunt in the fall and winter. This allows me to get them out of the way but leave the bases for quick set up when its time to fish again.

Holder itself is OK. Base is a prob.
Even the 3/8" holder is more than adequate for catfish over 50lbs. The aluminum base can/does strip out and the wingnut is very hard to tighten enough to make the holder stationary. I pulled the wing nuts and put on stainless 3/8"X16 nuts along with a large stainless washer. Just need to carry a 9/16" wrench.

Excellent Rod Holder
Driftmaster produces a very good rod holder with numerous mounting options. Make sure you order the correct thread type depending on side of boat unit is mounted or application. I have been using this brand for 18 years and recommend it for most applications.

L'IL PRO ROD HOLDERS
MOST OF MY FISHING IS LIVE BAIT STILL FISHING AROUND BRIDGES OR OTHER STRUCTURE, AND GENERALLY FOR CRAPPIE WHICH ARE FAMOUS FOR THE" SUBTLE" BITE. YOU MUST BE ABLE TO RETRIEVE YOUR ROD FROM THE HOLDER QUICKLY . I USE SPINNING REELS MOSTLY, AND THE DRIFTMASTER ALLOWS YOU TO SIMPLY LIFT THE ROD AND YOU'VE RETRIEVED YOUR ROD AND SET THE HOOK AT THE SAME TIME. I HAVE USED THE PLASTIC STYLE HOLDERS WITH A LOCKING RING IN FRONT,BUT THEY DONT HOLD A SPINNER WELL UNLESS YOU LOCK IT IN AND THEN YOU HAVE TO UNLOCK IT AND LOSE THE EASE AND SPEED OF THE DRIFTMASTER. I ALSO CATFISH WITH A LIVE BAIT AND THE DRIFTMASTER WORKS WELL WITH A BAITCASTER, TOO! THE ONLY NEGATIVE THING I CAN SAY IS THE BASES ARE SOFT ALUMINUM AND MIGHT STRIP OUT BUT THIS HASNT HAPPENED TO ME YET.
