We have had as many as 7 dogs and tried many bark collars. Finally we bought one Dogtra. It seemed quite superior in quality. It seems to work differently because it creates a shock ("correction") that burns on the skin, probably very high voltage but very low amperage. As a result you don't need to shave the dog. With other collars the necks would get sore, with these we have not had the problem.
This collar is extremely effective. Basically, the dog barks once, gets a correction, and never barks again. One minute later they are the same happy dogs they ever were, they just don't bark anymore. I have two German Shepherds that are young and playful, and they are out there chasing each other and jumping each other, and not a sound out of them, and guess what? They are having fun!
Okay, now the bad news. No, this collar does not last 15 days. That is a joke. Also, you have the problem of never really knowing what the charge level is. I just charge them once a week and don't worry about it. But the absence of any kind of battery indication kind of irks me.
Also, be sure to put this collar on tight, so that it does not move around. It's the moving around that creates sores on the neck. And be sure to take these collars off overnight.
This is a real high quality collar, very impressive. We have bought bark collars on the internet at twice the price and have not seen this quality. We have now used these Dogtra collars for about a year.

This is an average product…. I am happy with it for the price…. It doesn’t last the 15 days it claims to one 1 ten hour charge but most people can take it off their dog every 5 days to allow it to charge. My problem is I have many dogs so we move it around from one to another. But like I said…. For the money it was a good deal!

Absolutely not. It surprises them, it irritates them. It is very noxious. But no, it does not hurt. You may hear the dog yelp, because they are surprised, and they don't like it. But it does not hurt and does not cause pain. I have put these collars on me, and they sting and burn a little (if you turn them up high) but do not hurt.1 of 1
