I have to tell you I'm in much the same predicament as you. I have an Expedition that has similar height features. When I bought this canoe on Tuesday three people put it on the truck as I tied it down by myself, that part was easy. I was able to get it down by myself by pulling it from the back of the vehicle. I'm thinking there should be a way to reverse that process from the back at the same time keeping it from sliding to either side. Good luck!

Because of this canoe's built in seats, you would need a seat that straps down to the molded in seating, such as the Bass Pro Shops Canoe Stadium Seat (which is item number 38-614-960-26). Thanks

The maximum load capacity is 850 lbs. or with a motor, the capacity changes to four person or 800 lbs as required by the U.S. Coast Guards. Without a motor, you should be fine taking your family. Thanks

Yes, it comes with oar locks. They are Old Town brand, very nice. You can position them where ever you'd like on the boat.

It's pretty stable as far as canoes go. You should have zero problems. I chose this canoe for it's stability and have no issues taking my 3 and 5 yr old boys out fishing for as long as they can handle. I've been very happy with the purchase. And of course, always wear a life jacket.

As far as cones go, this is a very stable hull and would require some serious off-balance loading to tip over. That being said, if you try hard enough you can tip almost anything over. Always wear a Coat Guard approved personal floatation device. Thanks

I have this canoe and I chose a Suzuki 2.5 hp four stroke motor to push it. There is no point in going for more than that in terms of hp. None. The hull design does not plane whatsoever. I run my motor at about half throttle to achieve hull speed. Running my motor at full throttle might gain 1 knot or so above half throttle but it's much louder and zaps fuel quite a bit faster. GL.

The manufacturer recommends the 4hp, both in consideration of the weight of the motor as well as not to overpower the canoe causing instability.

This would be a good option for hunting.

Without a motor, this canoe draws only 4 or 5 inches of water. The shaft length of the motor would be the determining factor other wise.
