Deluxe Boat Cover Support System
Boat Cover Support System
I purchased this item several years ago. The plastic piece on top of the pole broke soon after I started using it. The plastic is much too weak and the method of attaching the straps to the plastic was poor at best. I was able to rig up the support using an old ski belt and some cable ties which worked OK for about 2 years. Then last night as it was getting dark and I was covering my boat due to the rainy week ahead, the pole stopped working - wouldn't telescope properly. I expect my boat cover to look like a pool liner the next time I get up to the lake. As for the Boat Cover Support System, it is a great concept but poorly designed and of poor quality.

Great way to waste your money
This maybe the worst product I have ever purchased. The plastic bar on the telescoping pole will bend under any pressure. I ended up using just the straps on a wood brace that I made.

Cheap Quality Support
I have had this support unit for several years. As mentioned in other reviews the plastic support "T" is extremely cheap and tends to break if you put too much stress on it. If this part of the unit was "beefed up" a bit you would have a great product. I would even be willing to spend a few extra dollars for this enhancement. The straps and hooks work great and are still holding up well. I have to buy another assembly as the "T" broke and is not sold seperately.

Only ok after modification
I don't like this cover support.
The back hooks are big and clunky, and they don't hook onto my rear rope cleats very well.
The anti-scuff tube that is supposed to protect the front of the bow never stays centered. I put it on centered, but the next time I uncover the boat, it has slipped off to one side or the other.
And last but not least, the center cover support piece is just bad. It is plastic and it is flimsy. The strap fits through clips on the side of the bracket, and if you try to tighten the straps, it starts to fold the support bracket down. The bracket will not support the cover in a heavy rain, and puddles will form in the back corners of your cover. Also the support pole fits into the bracket very, very tightly, and it is difficult to remove for stowage.
I modified the bracket by attaching a piece of cedar to the top of it to increase it's stability, and that barely makes this product ok.
