The consummate foot soldier, the Fort Lewis is uninsulated for warmer climates and those extra long marches. The standard that other uniform boots attempt to live up to, this 10'' uniform boot is made in USA and approved by the U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM). Loaded with features, the Fort Lewis sports a full-grain leather upper preferred by those in uniform and special tactical teams for its ability to be cleaned quickly and durability. Danner's Stitchdown construction provides top stability and a wide, stable base. The cushioning Vibram® Kletterlift outsole fights fatigue on long treks by providing lightweight comfort, superb shock absorption, and great traction and stability on wet or dry surfaces. A GORE-TEX® lining keeps the boot completely waterproof. This soldier is ready for duty right out of the box. Average weight per pair: 4.625 lbs. Non-insulated. Color: Black. Made in USA.
Features:
Danner's Stitchdown construction - stable base, ability to re-sole boot

Vibram Kletterlift outsole - great shock absorption and superior wet or dry traction
FORSCOM approved
Danner®'s Stitchdown Construction creates a wider platform to deliver increased stability and an incredibly durable base underneath your foot. This heavy-duty construction process starts with conforming the upper to one of Danner's durable lasts and then flaring this piece out to cement it to the midsole. These two pieces are then stitched together with a heavy thread in an interlocking stitch for a super secure attachment. This firmly stitched boot is then cemented to a top quality outsole to deliver a boot ready for hard work and abuse. In addition to delivering a superior boot, this process also allows you to re-sole the boot to add years of life to these top quality and top performing boots.

I pulled them out of the box, strapped them on and humped 14 miles comfortably. they are water tight and have good traction. I have used a few different boots in my day but will wear nothing else now. sure, they aren't cheap but your feet are your life in the bush and these will not let you down. they are soft on your feet, feel like air sole basketball shoes. I've had them 8 years now and am on my 3rd set of vibram soles. when the leather wears out I'll get another pair. (pick up the danner care kit too)

The base model doesn't, yet an upgraded model does, and is still offered. I know, I have two pair. Both original army issue, 25 yrs old and still kickin'.
The base model is uninsulated. But, Danner does offer two pairs that are insulated. They have 200 and 600 grams of insulation respectively. The insulated pair generally run about twenty dollars or more.
