Rated 5 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Zillion The Team Daiwa Zillion reels are as good as anything on the Market. Rock solid & smooth. I use the 7:1 model mainly for Buzz Baits & it doesn't work you to death to keep'em up on top where you want it! June 10, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by the best reel i ever bought. the only bad part about this reel, is it has cheap grips, and is to fast for a spinner bait or buzz bait. but it is the best reel for the money. May 28, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by The best reel I've owned I have owned everything from citicas to curadoes. This reel destroys them. It can handle big reds, smacks and even macks and jacks without blowing up. I don't feel there is a fish in Texas inshore waters it can't handle (besides our large toothy friends). Largest fish I have pulled in was a 60 pd black drum that was 7 inches longer then the current record for Galveston Bay! After that, nothing scares me:) May 4, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by First Diawa in 10 years I gave up on all baitcasting reels other than Shimano over 10 years ago. I own 4 Chronarch reels, 1 Calais, and some Curado's and Calcutta's. I purchased this Zillion Coastal because of the fast retrieve and because of the Bass Pro return policy. (The profile of this reel feels better than the Chronarch 7.1 at the same price). This real is super smooth, cast as far as any of my Shimano reels, has a very nice "small" profile, and it has the very fast retrieve. About the best saltwater set up I have for fishing top waters all day. ** I used it two trips of hard wade fishing in the texas bays (all day 6 days total). It still feels like it is brand new. I cannot talk about the saltwater durability at this point. But, the quality really is impressive and I will not be returning this reel. April 9, 2011

I've been reading reviews that say the Coastal performs just as well in freshwater as salt and would just like some more confirmation. I fish mostly freshwater but make trips to the coast and would love to have the capabilities all in one reel.

I think that the Coastal would also perform in fresh water I am just not a big fan of reels with a 8.8 pound drag especially for inshore I would look somewhere else.

I am thinking about purchasing this reel. I was wondering if it is a good option for snook fishing.

The max drag seems to be on the low side (I am an amateur) from what people tell me for snook fishing.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

You are correct the drag is on the low side
but if you really love the reel so much the ultimate stopping power is your thumb.

no need to make such a BIG purchase for an amateur angler. u can use the offshore angler or ocean master baitcast combos for snook, reds, and trout. and get away with 12 or 14lb test mono. and you can still use it to catch plenty of spanny macks off the skyway fishing piers when they run threw.

I have always used Abu Garcia reels and my favorite baitcast reel right now is the Revo Inshore. I was wondering how this reel compared to the Revo and if it is worth the extra money. It sure does look cool.

Yes if you are after looks the Coastal is very cool but like I have been saying the drag is weak but its a very smooth reel also I believe that the Inshore has better bearing
and line capacity for salt water
