The T-Wing levelwind aperture is just that: T-shaped. When you release the spool, the ''hood'' lifts, allowing the line to flow effortlessly through the wide upper gap, for less friction and longer casts. When you re-engage, the line is guided back into the smaller part of the T to ensure precise placement on the spool. You’ll also get the Magforce® 3D cast control system, Zaion® frame, clutch cover, and sideplate, and a striking natural ''Black Marble'' Zaion finish. The T3 also features Ultimate Tournament Drag with micro-click adjustment, five ball bearings plus roller bearing, aluminum Swept Handle, free-floating aluminum spool, Infinite Anti-Reverse®, and One Touch spool change.
Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by over rated but nice Diawa rep talked me into it...was optimistic, then suprised at how easy and smooth it was. started getting cocky with how far it would lob a crankbait and snagged a boat seat behind me. got a 150 yard backlash that apparently sprung (sprang?) the t-wing, or bent the stabilizer bar. now, to get a level wind on retrieve, i have to palm the reel and hold down the front of the t wing so the line will run correctly through the line guide. daiwa called this damage "user abuse" and would not cover under warranty. i still think its a very good reel, just as long as i palm it during retrieve. wont buy another one though June 5, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice all around reel! Great all around reel. I like the switch it makes it very quick to change for different conditions August 9, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by The T-Wing Purchased the reel during the fishing classic. The T-Wing levelwind aperture was the selling point. The reel also has a composite frame and a large number of anti backlash options. I teamed the reel with a St. Croix Rage rod and am extremely excited about the combination. The casting distance is impressive. The reel has some new technology that is cetainly worth a look. March 4, 2012

A:
except for my problem with the one piece "hood", this reel is hands down, in MY opinion, nicer than the pro qualifier. understand that the t3 is a mid proice range reel, and should be smoother. i love the drag on the t3, flawless on a 7.6 bass on 10 lb mono.

A:
I can't compare the two reels as I only have the T3 Ballistic. The only problem I have with this reel is I don't want to use my other reels.
