I've used lots of reels and this one is very similar to the Daiwa Sha Sealine X. I have a the 50 with 50lb test and use it for surf fishing and jetty fishing. You can throw down your drag and turn a fish no problem without even locking it up. If your looking for a durable, strong and reliable conventional reel, I recommend the seagate. I have a 50 paired up with a 12" Daiwa beefstick surf Rod.

loaded the 40 size reel with 50 lb. braid. Very nice performance, cast smoothly. Caught big "alligator blues" with no strain at all. I think this will be an outstanding reel for deep water cod off shore in the winter.
