I have been a Daiwa fan for years and this is just one more that I love. I purchased this specifically for butterfly jigging and it is perfect. I will probably add at least one more to my equipment list.

I purchased these reels for salmon fishing and they didn't disappoint. When the release popped it took no time at all to catch up to the fish with the high retrieval rate. The drag system and the smoothness of the reel is outstanding also. Was fishing on Lake Oahe for chinooks, worked great on the salmon I caught. Also used the reels to catch Big walleyes with no problems and also dropped down to the tailrace at night to catch 6 to 10 pound channel cats at night. After catching the catfish in that heavy current I knew I made the right choice by going with the Saltist

Daiwa® Saltist® Levelwind A Conventional Reel I purchased from Bass Pro Shops allowed me to catch 2 black tip sharks and 10 saltwater catfish for a great day of surf fishing on the Texas Gulf Coast.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by davidinky Excellent reel!
After reading reviews of this reel on a lot of muskie forums, I had to try one. No doubt, it's the perfect tool for the big double bladed bucktails being thrown now. You can burn the double 10's fast enough to blow them out on top, or crank slower with no troubles as well.
It's very sturdy built and casts well. I'm looking forward to using it a lot more this season!

Definitely not, you need to have lots of control when casting but more importantly when your reeling in your line. There is no spooling mechanism so it has to be done by hand.A:Â
