The high-speed, heavy-action Daiwa Saltiga SA-Z Dog Fight Spinning Reel was built to withstand the pressures of heavy braided line when battling large, strong-pulling predators like tuna, amberjack and marlin to name a few. When it comes to reliable pulling power and premium performance, the gimmick-free Saltiga Dog Fight leads the way with a drag max of 66 lbs. and an incredibly efficient line recovery rating—over 50 inches with every turn of the handle! From its rugged, waterproof all metal body and DigiGear™ stainless and bronze alloy gears to the 14 super-smooth, high-grade ball bearings and machined ABS aluminum spool with titanium nitride lip, nothing about the Saltiga Dog Fight Reel is second-class. Even the main shaft of the reel is specially machined and supported to eliminate the friction normally caused by the shaft flexing under heavy loads. A key mechanism in any heavy-use reel is Anti-Reverse, the ratchet system that keeps the handle from back-winding when setting the hook or playing a fish. Like other Saltiga reels, the Dog Fight's anti-reverse dual system for reliability is full-time, so there's no on-off lever to accidentally trip and snarl or trap line in the heat of battle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Daiwa® Saltiga® SA-Z Dog Fight Spinning Reel I just got into fishing last year. Unfortunately I was not born with good hand/eye coordination and experienced backlash most times when casting when using conventional reels. One of my options was the Daiwa® Saltiga® SA-Z Dog Fight Spinning Reel. I pre-ordered one and got one from the first batch from Japan. One thing readers need to know is that you should not put too much line on this reel else line will slip off the reel and make your life very miserable. Once that was figured out this reel worked like a charm. My Dogfight is matched with a Calstar 800-M. As a newcomer I could outcast all but the most seasoned anglers. My motto is "only cry once". Cry because it costs a lot. Don't cry because you didn't purchase it the first time and now can't afford it because you spent your money on something else. March 2, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Spinning Reel out there I have been using this reel for about 6 month and I love everything about this. This reel is much much better than New Shimano Stella Spinning reel. Drag is so Smooth. You will not have any problem catching any fish with this. It's expensive but you are getting what you are paying for. I would recommend this reel to everybody who is looking for a best reel out there. January 12, 2011

A:
No. This is way too large of a reel for pike and muskie. Extreme overkill.
