Daiwa SS Tournament Spinning Reel
Tough Reels, A++
i have 4 1300s and 4 1600s. I fish salt water in SWFL. I use the 1300's for reds, snook, sea trout, pompano, etc and the 1600's for larger beach jacks grouper and tarpon. The reels are the toughest, built like a tank, reliable reels on the market. I love 'em. The drag is excellent. I fish about 50 days a year and use the reels hard...they hold up great with basic maintenance. The 1300's never cease to amaze me...last summer a hooked a 100 lb tarpon on the beach at keywadin island and my little 1300 hung in there for a half hour. Think I would've landed the beast had my leader not failed. Don't be fooled by bells and whistles...these reels deliver value and results. Here's a 30 pound jack landed on a little 1300...

Daiwa SS700 Tournment Reel
I bought 2 of these reels a couple of years ago. I wasn't sure how I'd like them because when I cranked the reels while in the store they didn't seem as smooth as I expected. I wanted these reels for saltwater fishing while out in a kayak and after using them I soon found that I just love them. I bought the lite weight SS 700 and put 15 lb test Power Pro line and have fished and fished them with never a problem. I wash them down and apply some oil after each use and both reels still look and work like new. These reels are a old design but work like a charm. These are the first Daiwa reels I have ever owned and they have won me over mainly due to how well the hold up. They are worth the extra money.

Big bang for the buck
I took my new tournament ss 1600 for some early morning snook and trout fishing. Well lets just say it got the job done. Within 2 hours I landed 3 snook and 2 speckled sea trout. The reel performed as I would expect from a Daiwa product. It casts beautifully spooled with 10 lb test, and the worm gear line lay is flawless. Anyone looking for a no frills, catch big fish and beg for more reel should take a look at the tournament ss series. You will not be dissapointed.

Best reel I have owned
I have had hundreds of reel in my life, this is my favorite on of all. I now have three of them. I have caught more striped bass on this reel than than all of my saltwater tackle combined. I purchased it mainly for largemouth fishing, but it can handle far more than I expected. I have used it in any fishing scenario I came across with no problems at all.
Since I bought my first one. on this reel I have caught pike, pickerel, smallmouth, largemouth, crappie, bluegil, rainbows, stripers, bluefish, tataug, black sea bass, and probably more than that. This is one versatile reel.
