great versatility The idea and versatilty is great. I leave it in the trunk of my car and it has come in handy many times. It is not the best quality however and that is why it recieves 4 stars. The rod pieces did not all fit snugly together, espicially the main one going into the handle. It has actually came all the way out on a cast before. The reel is decent, sometimes the line gets gummed up inside, and I have to take it apart and pull the line. I took some line off and put KVD lube on it and it casts better now. The convience is worth the price, even though the quality is not perfect. It is pretty tough, it pulled in this 3 pounder. March 11, 2008
Great Setup I take this lightweight combo backpacking with me all the time. It is great for trout and bream. Great buy. September 26, 2006

A:
This reel is a "minicast" reel which is very similar to a spincast reel, very simple to use and great for learners and young ones.

A:
No its not a Baitcaster its a spincast its kind of a cross between a spin reel and a baitcast. They are nice reels for kids, or if you just want to have a little fun. I own this one and its great to take on my 4 wheeler.
