Bang for your buck this is a great reel! It works just as well as a more expensive reel. It compares to the Shimano 2000 but the Daiwa M-One holds more line. Which is great for trolling or jigging in deep water. I am very happy with this reel and would recommend it to anyone wanting a great set up with out spending allot.

Purchased reel to use with a downrigger for Chinook Salmon in the Pacific Northwest and took it out for its first outing and was very pleasantly surprised at how well it performed. Drag was easy to set and after over a dozen fish landed, I was hooked on using mooching reels. Although it was the least expensive mooching reel available I felt it was well worth the investment to find out what the excitement is all about in using such a reel to landing large salmon. It handled my largest 30 lb. Chinook with flawless ease and I would recommmend the M-One Plus for those who may want to buy a mooching reel, but may not want to spend a lot of money to get started in the mooching reel experience.

No, maybe, well kind of. You could pull the line off the side of the reel, and pitch your rig underhand. The line will twist like there's no tomorrow, but you could get 20 or 30 feet.Answers

I'll try to answer my own question. I've been using a "Offshore Angler" power stick. (PSS71530). This reel is loaded with 17 lb line, and I use just enough weight to keep the line trailing at 45 degrees. Works great with "Cut Plugs" , Repalas, and other misc. hardware...1 of 1
