Excellent Reel I just bought the GC80 last fall, and used it trout fishing. I caught the largest trout I have ever landed on this reel at just over 5 lbs here in Oklahoma. My wife didnt believe me when I told her it was because of the reel I had just purchased. The drag and retrieval on this reel are top notch. I would recommend this reel to anyone interested in a top quality spincast reel. June 29, 2006
It's OK Just for background, I am a big fan of baitcasters now. Before I went to baitcasters, I used spinncast reels. I don't use any spinncast reels now, the smooth operation of a baitcaster spoiled me. As far as the reel is concerned, it's not bad as far as spinncast reels go. It's reasonably smooth. A huge drawback is that the anti-reverse also includes a bait-clicker. Baitclickers irritate me easily. I once lost a good fish because the fish jerked so hard; it knocked the reel handle out of my hands because the anit-reverse was off. That was all it took for me to not use this reel again. Simply because I do not like bait-clickers. If you don't mind bait-clickers & you want a spinncast reel; this is better than other lower priced reels. September 4, 2007
last a long time This reel last a long time. I have had one since I was a kid, and still use it from time to time. January 22, 2009

I use Fireline on the 10 with no problems so far. Do not troll though, the line tightens on the spool to the point that casting is impossible.

Yes. But, I would buy the Zebco Omega... no clicking noise when you retrieve plus the Zebco has three pick-up prongs on the spindle were the Diawa only has two.
