I bought the Emcastplus 6000 to go with my 15ft 3 piece Offshore Angler model # 1047. Took it to the Bahamas to check it out.A great rod & reel combo. At first it was akward casting, but soon got the hang of it. The 3 1/2 foot handle gets some getting used too. The Reel performed perfectly.
A great buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 Great Reel
Purchased the 6500 size of the Emcast Plus and mated to a 11' OM rod. Works great and handles a ton of line.Only problem I have with the reel is it is too quiet. If you not watching it a big fish could spool you and you wouldnt know it. The clicker isnt loud enough to hear over the crashing ocean waves.

These reels for the price is as good as it gets for large game surf fishing. Cast is excellent and drag is smooth.

Just used it the first time, but compared to my other open faced reels it is smooth as silk.

I'm going back to Gulf on a return fishing trip, fishing the Panhandle piers (Pensacola/Navarre/Okaloosa). This reel looks pretty decent but I've never owned a Penn and am wondering about similarly priced saltwater reels by them. Recommendations?Answers

The handle does indeed reverse from side to side. The instruction card included in the box was fairly clear and easy to follow. My 17 year old son has already reversed his.1 of 1
