Daiwa or Penn?

Details: 
I'm going back to Gulf on a return fishing trip, fishing the Panhandle piers (Pensacola/Navarre/Okaloosa). This reel looks pretty decent but I've never owned a Penn and am wondering about similarly priced saltwater reels by them. Recommendations?

The handle does indeed reverse from side to side. The instruction card included in the box was fairly clear and easy to follow. My 17 year old son has already reversed his.
