A true-performer and true value, the Daiwa D-Wave Saltwater Spinning Rod and Reel Combo offers the smooth handling power anglers need to dominate inshore. The D-Wave Combo matches a medium-action, two-piece rod with a large capacity spinning reel featuring Daiwa's Digigear™ technology for an unbeatable blend of smooth operation, power and speed. In addition to Digigear™ technology, the D-Wave spinning reel is engineered with a long cast ABS (Advanced Ballistic System) aluminum spool which lets line flow freely in larger coils and produces less line memory coil and friction. The reel's Twist Buster® Line Roller works to reduce line twist and the Gyro Spin Balanced Rotor works to balance all components for super smooth retrieves. Fiberglass blank construction ensures the D-Wave rod offers the right combination of power and sensitivity, while the aluminum oxide guides and stainless steel reel seat provide salt-beating corrosion-resistance.

    Reel Features:
  • Digigear™ technology
  • Gyro Spin Balanced Rotor system
  • ABS (Advanced Ballistic System) aluminum spool
  • Twist Buster® Line Roller
  • Stainless steel ball bearing
  • Pre-spooled with 20-lb. mono line

    Rod Features:

  • Two-piece
  • Fiberglass blank construction
  • Aluminum oxide guides
  • Stainless steel reel seat
  • EVA foam grips
Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 49 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Value I bought this rod/reel combo a year ago and have fished it in Virginia, Florida and Georgia waters. It has reeled in everything from little sharks to flounders to rockfish to trout. I have been impressed that for the low price it has held up so well. I recently actually lost the handle from the reel but for $35 I will just be buying another one. Fantastic little saltwater rig for the price. April 18, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good value This rod and reel work very well and I am very happy with the value and quality of the gear for the price I paid. I caught three fish in about 45 minutes one day after work this week. I am very satisfied with the purchase. August 30, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Daiwa D-Wave This was the first salt water rod and reel I purchased. It worked great. The reel performed well it casted well and no tangles while spinning into the wind and surf. July 30, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Great price. I had no problems with anything. If I buy anymore products Bass Pro Shops is the place. July 25, 2012

This pole does breakdown, I don't know that there is a specific carry case made for this rig but they do sell universal fit carry bags for them.

A:
The rod is a two piece rod. However, you would have to buy a carry case separately.

Yes it can be used on a party boat. Have done so several times now. No issues using #20 test. Bonito, Sand Bass, mackeral, sculpin off of Catalina. Sturdy and reliable.

A:
Personally I respool a rod even if it comes with line already. The reason I do that is, line gets old as it sits exposed so I always spend the $7-$8 for new line just for the reassurance that there is new line on the reel. Berkley Trilene Maxx or Big Game is pretty good in the 12# range for just about everything.
