Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 27 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by nice features for the price I purchased this reel on a whim, it came as a combo the reel is stated to be corrosion resistant, nice drag I have caught legal ling cod and bass to 5 lbs on this reel loaded with 20 lb braid performs well for the price May 31, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best reel for the money This reel performs better than any comparable reel I have ever used. I now use them exclusively on all my trout and red fish rods. April 17, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by kinda ok It works fine but when you reel in its not really smooth plus I wasn't able to retrieve fast I mean for the price it's ok but I think it's bit low performance in coastal or shore fishing like in delaware inlet September 19, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Redfish Reel I fish inshore for redfish and my new reel performed as promised. May 24, 2011

I used to take all my reels apart and have no trouble putting them back together but the exploded drawing for this Daiwa Coastal Inshore reel shows it is much more complex than my old Pfleuger Supreme. Can you take your's apart and sucessfully put it back toghether?

Or, if you don't try to clean it yourself, how often do you have your's professionally cleaned, assuming you rinse in fresh water after each use.

My reel (same as yours) doesn't click when pulled against the drag. I couldn't speak for "all others".

I doubt the answer to this question would be helpful. Everybody I've seen just pulls the line and adjusts to what "feels" right. I guess you could use your portable fish scale but I don't want that much bother.

how many lbs? You could probably screw it down to totally lock the reel. I spool this reel with 12lb mono and tighten down to about 8lbs drag. I have handled red drum as large as 32lbs without a problem-although I had to chase the last one with my trolling motor a bit.

I think it is easy to use (I just got it) and it had been at least 20 years since I had last done baitcasting. I had stuck to spinning gear for the last 20 years. I used to baitcast cast a lot when I was a kid so I may have retained some baitcasting memory.

I believe this reel is a quality product and that you will enjoy perfecting your baitcasting skill with it.

the handle is on the right side...you are holding the rod with your left hand.....on a left handed reel you hold the rod with your right hand and wind with the left
