Daiwa Aird Spinning Reels incorporate Daiwa’s celebrated spinning reel technologies plus gold styling and superior on-the-water performance. A lightweight composite body provides the rigidity required to hold all parts in perfect alignment, while its 10-bearing system (9BB+1RB) assures smooth operation and solid hooksets with no back play. Daiwa’s advanced Levelwind promotes even line winding and a Twist Buster system utilizes an ABS spool to help minimize line management issues. A second, larger spool is also included. The Daiwa Aird Spinning Reel is ideal for a variety of finesse applications.
Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Real I bought this real cause i used my friends and it was one of the smoothest reels I've ever used. It has great drag settings allow me to utilize my rod to the best functions. It can go from panfish and perch with small light hits to 20 plus pound carp to 10 pound explosive hits from stealhead and walleye. Its also a great product because it comes with 2 spools allowing you to change quickly and efficiently between line types/weight. March 26, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Reel Great reel. very smooth. Took it out the other day and caught some nice bass with ease. It casts very far and it looks great. February 1, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by not too sure My review is probably an incomplete one. I ordered this online and received a pflueger president for a gift around the same time. I ended up taking this one back as much as I really wanted to like it, I did pick it out but it didn't feel like a 90 dollar reel, I guess it felt the same as the pflueger that only cost 60 plus the handle felt more natural on the president, but the fit and finish of the aird was far better January 31, 2013

I tried that and what happens is, eventually the adhesive on the tape melts when the tape gets old and it makes a sticky mess, WD 40 will clean it off. I just use mono for backing now.

A:
I believe they include a special spool for braid, if not, you can simply tie on a 5ft monofilament leader.

Answers

A:
When I tie braid to the spool I add a small piece of tape to prevent the line from slipping.

Yes it can be used with braid and the extra spool looks the same just deeper to hold more line thats why its a 2500 and a 3000 in the same reel!

Can't anything about the braided line I don't use it myself it doesn't say anything about it in the packaging or on the Daiwa website. My Aird came with an aluminum spool. They come with different sizes depending on which reel you get a 4000 comes with a 3500 spool. Website has info. Love it! It's a great reel. I'm actually looking to getting another smaller one at some point.
