Okay for what it is, I went ahead and bought the orig. tie-fast after using this combo tool....much quicker and easier to tie the knot than using the small groove on the combo tool.
If I were to do it again, I would buy the orig. Tie-fast and a nipper.
I no longer use this for knot tying but it's nice to have a back-up and the nippers work well and all seem's to be well made.

I have used this product before. There is a learning curve but once mastered you will love this little gem.

I love this tool for three reasons. First, I use a lot of braid and fluorocarbon and the razor sharp clippers allow me to cut the tag end very close and without fraying.
Secondly, I suffer from psoriasis and several years ago I caught poison Ivy on my hands. Once the poison ivy went away, the psoriasis moved all over my fingers and joints (there’s some kind of fancy name for that condition but I can’t remember the name much less to try and spell it). It took two years to solve that problem but it left my fingers with virtually no feeling. Have you ever tried to tie a 100% fishing knot in the middle of a river with virtually no feeling in your fingers...it's tough.
This tool allows me to easily tie several very strong knots in 5 to 10 seconds that normally would have taken me a minute or two of fumbling around.
The third thing I like about this tool is that they combined the clippers and the knot tying tool into one tool. As a bonus you also have an eye cleaner and a small file for sharpening hooks. I would love this tool at twice the price and would give it 10 stars if I could.
