I love the hat, it's cool enough for the summer and keeps the sun off my head. If you are prefectionist, you might be dissatisfied to discover threads left untrimmed and needle holes that show the dark underside of the brim through to the top.
BUT...Columbia was good about sending anew one in exchange.

Light and very good sun protection while bone fishing in Bahamas, first was tan color and we liked it so much I got her a second one because purple favorite color, didn't spook the fish and still very cool, even wore it in town while shopping at the markets, excellent quality
If your wife is in the sun, gardening or spending time with you in the boat, this will make her very happy and she WILL wear it more than once
Easy to wash and didn't fade
