Technology makes the Packus Ridge™ Omni-Tech™ waterproof hiking boot a superior choice for serious hikers. The suede leather and air mesh upper features Columbia’s special Omni-Tech® waterproofing technology. This microporous membrane blocks outside water from seeping through to your foot, but breathes to allow perspiration from your foot to escape to keep your foot comfortably dry for the entire trek. All day comfort is provided by the Contour Comfort™ 1D footbed that interacts with the natural contours of your foot. Proper torsional rigidity and support are provided by a molded nylon shank and internal EVA midsole. The gusseted tongue and durable metal hooks on the upper eyestay help ensure a continued fit. And don’t worry about odor after the long distance hike. Both the internal lining and footbed of the Packus Ridge feature the Omni-Fresh™ anti-microbial and anti-odor treatment which uses Columbia’s AgION technology. This special treatment uses silver ions to combat a broad range of bacteria, keeping the footbed clean and neutralizing odor. Columbia finishes this great hiking boot with its Omni-Grip green outsole, a hiking outsole made of a non-marking firm-to-medium rubber compound with increased abrasion resistance for longer wear. They seem wonderful for areas with more even terrain and/or for people whose feet do not need as much support. September 5, 2012

Rated 5 out of 5 by Quick Dry I am a zookeeper and I bought these shoes to use at work in the summer. My feet are constantly getting wet, and I wanted something that would dry quickly and that I wouldn't feel like my feet were swimming in if I dumped a water bucket down my leg. After using them for a few weeks I have to say that they are the quickest drying shoes that I own. They are very light weight and comfortable. I did end up with some blisters on the backs of my heels after wearing them without socks for the first time, but I haven't had a problem since. They are a little roomy if you are hoping to wear them without socks. I usually wear between a 6.5-7 and I ordered a 6.5 in these shoes. With socks they fit perfectly, but without socks they are a little big. The elastic laces will make them nice and snug though. June 11, 2012

Details: 
I have to stand in water a lot and work in it all the other times so I need a very good waterproof boot. Not to mention I'm tired of those fat tounges. I want one that huge my ankle so the water doesn't go down into my shoe. The fat tongues make it hard to even stay tied.

these have fat tongues. You may prefer a gortex waterproof boot for your particular situation. This leather will saturate in standing water.
