I used the Northstar lantern on a four day camping trip, it was by far the brightest lamp there. It was easy to fill and easy to light. This is a great lamp.

I live in Canada above the Arctic Circle and it gets cold up here. I have a propane lantern similar to this one that I have used down south but as I live in a fly in only community propane is expensive and doesn't work great in the cold weather. I have only tested this lantern and after setting it up and doing a test light, the mantle is glowing in a surging manner. I have seen this before and when the mantle gets more use it will be more consistent. I haven't used gasoline in this lantern yet and a friend told me that Canadian gas may not work in this lantern due to different additives. I'll have to look in to that. I like the battery operated ignition with the option to light with a match if needed, as it is cold here batteries die very quickly. Overall a good purchase.

I had one for about 10 years and it worked well every time it was used. It is by far the brightest lantern I have ever used. I usually kept it on close to the low setting while camping at state parks out of respect for other campers and it there was plenty of sufficient light at this level. When you get on a trail or in a field, it is very, very bright. I never carried a flash light except a small backup one due to the lantern being so useful. This is the lantern to buy if you want one that works. Also, I always had a problem with it not having a case since my older dual mantle, but the glass never broke and it was carried in the back of my truck, tool box, wife's car, etc. This lantern is awesome, and I am getting another one the next time I go to BP (someone else is a proud owner of mine now).

This lantern model is hard to find. It looks beautiful hanging in trees at night. It makes a great alternative to landscape lighting. If you hang them in trees, it creates a beutiful ambience of light. I hope that Bass Pro will continue to stock this model.

There is some smell but mostly if you spill the raw gas around. Better to use the coleman fuel, doesn't stink as bad.Answers

I cannot verify that that case will fit, but the case that I bought at Bass Pro in Altoona, IA does. Coleman Model# 3000000527 (Black base with Black top model) fits so long as you either raise/remove the Rubber Boot/Feet at the bottom of the lantern so as to allow the lantern to engage the grips in the case.1 of 1
