THIS COOLER CERTAINLY LOOKS COOL. I HAVE AN 80 QT. STEEL COLEMAN COOLER FROM 1988 THAT NO LONGER KEEPS STUFF COLD FOR LONGER THAN A DAY. THIS COOLER NEEDED ICE EVERY OTHER DAY WHILE CAMPING IN 80 DEGREE WEATHER. I DON'T KNOW IF THE PRICE IS A BARGAIN IF $35-$50 COOLERS DO THE SAME THING. BUT THIS IS A GOOD LOOKIN COOLER!

I bought this cooler back in the spring, expecting that between the cost and the Coleman name, it would be a quality cooler. Boy was I wrong.... Worst cooler I've ever owned.
Pros:
- It's a nice looking cooler.
Cons:
- The hinge started to tare away from the lid after just the second camping trip, from nothing more than every day use. (See attached pictures)
- The pins that hold the two halves of the hinges together literally fell out after the second camping trip. Tipped it on it's end in the bathtub to clean it, and they slipped right out. (See attached pictures)
- Although they advertise a "a solid steel latch", only the outside of the latch is actually made of metal. The inside, where the latch latches onto is cheap plastic.
- When latched, the lid can be pried open with very little effort.... In fact on more than one occasion I accidentally opened the lid while latched with no more force than it would take to open a normal cooler. I've checked the models in-store on several occasions to see if this is normal, and they are all the same.
- There is no rubber seal between the lid and the cooler, meaning there's always some warm air circulating in from outside through the 2-3 millimeters of wiggle space between the lid and the cooler.
- Instead of a screwed in drain plug, it's a simple plastic stopper, which actually came loose on my last trip, leaking water all over the bed of my truck.... fortunately it wasn't in the cab.
Conclusion:
Don't waste your time or money with this cooler. It seems that Coleman was counting on the reputation of quality and durability their old coolers had earned to sell this inferior product. I'm planning on returning this (if they'll let me) and paying the extra money for a Yeti instead.

The latch broke after 3 uses, Drain plug strap broke. Coleman discontinued replacement parts and doesn't even recognize this cooler on their website. Lousy choice!!!

I have one of the original versions of this cooler. I think it is 35 years old. It will last forever unless a latch breaks. We have used it on family picnics and it has been on dozens of wilderness canoe camping trips.
My favorite trick is to freeze a plastic gallon jug of spring water (with some water removed to allow for expansion). As the water melts, you have drinking water! It will last a weekend. I supplement it with some plastic ice packs also.

Unfortunately, we only carry the red version at this time.A:
I think Bass Pro only carries the red version.... but the cooler is poorly made (see my review), so look I would at putting in the extra money it costs to buy the Yeti.A:
Yes, but I wouldn't pay a penny for it!1 of 1
