I purchased this for the boat and camping. It is ok when it comes to brightness, but the dang LED in the center blinds you at eye level. It needs like a screen or a block on one side. I got the rechargable CPX battery for this and it held a charge all night on low and a few hours on high for 2 days straight! Plus if it dies you can throw D batteries in it which is a plus. Good purchase, watch your eyes!

I bought 5 of these lanterns and they are great. I like the hi and lo light features and the way they were built. Very sturdy. They are nice to use for power outages as well as in camping/ rv'sand they provide more than adequate light.

Purchased light due to a number of power outages during the winter in my area. Surprisingly puts out a lot of light, definitely beats the oil lamps or candles. I also purchased the rechargable battery pack since I don't really wan to have to replace the batteries all the time.

No, the mantle lanterns have a lumen rating of 800 plus and the led lanterns have 200 and less. However, the advantages of LEDs are long battery life and almost no chance of fire due to heat. You wont burn down the tent or the boat.
