The Master Hunter is built around its broad 4-1/2'' VG-1 San Mai III® three layer, laminated steel blade that’s been flat ground to achieve the ideal blade cross-section and edge geometry. With a 3/16'' spine and high carbon VG-1 stainless steel layer sandwiched between two super tough lower carbon steels, this blade delivers the necessary strength and stiffness to field dress and skin the biggest animals like elk, moose, brown bear, and the African Dangerous Seven.

One of the guys in my hunting group got a bear this year. When it came to to clean it, he was having a pretty hard time doing the job with his knife. I loaned him mine, and the difference was night and day. I still remember the look he gave me after he started using it. At that point, I knew it was money well spent. He sliced through with ease. The grip is very effective, even when wet or covered in blood. The shape and balance of the knife makes it comfortable to handle. Above all, it's very sharp, and holds it edge well.
Spend the extra money and get this one. You won't be disappointed.

I use this knife to cut through alot of delicious crab meat, and as a fisherman it never lets me down.

Cold steel knives are the only knives I will buy.
I have owned a few dozen hunting and survival knives from for example Buck, Puma and Kershaw
but none of them come close to the strength, edge retension and overall fit and feel.
I am so impresed that I have sold or given away all of my other knives. The Cold Steel Master Hunter is only equaled by the Falkniven F1.

The Cold Steel Master Hunter is the finest hunting knife I have ever used. Razor sharp and very durable. The handle is as good as advertised. Comfortable and completely non-slip. My knife is the Carbon V steel version which does require some upkeep. As with all carbon steel blades, it will rust more quickly than stainless steel. A couple of swipes on the hone, a little oil on the blade and this will be the only hunting knife you will ever need.
