None of these radios will give you more than a short distance of coverage, maybe a mile at most and that would be on the open water or wide open flat area. The only way to get the kind of range any of these units claim is to go with the licensed GMRS units and use repeaters if there are any in your area. Why would anyone need that kind of range with these small radios anyway? They are made for short range use, it's not like anyone would be using them to talk to someone across town.

I researched ALL brands and found the COBRA 925 radios to feature all I required. I bought six and was not disappointed! I issue them to individuals, most of whom have never used a high end radio, and they are returned 12 hours later. NEVER A PROBLEM!
Famiiliarity is intuitive, battery life is never an issue, always reliable, bounce proof, and, ALL advertised capability is accurate! I need eight more and will repeat with COBRA 925's.

A friend and I tried these. Thought WOW 35 miles, compared to the 2 miles they used to brag about. So we tried them. I wanna say we got a bit over 3/4 of a mile on flat gound. Maybe it was just the set we had, but didn't want to waste our time again to try another

The range was way, way less than half a mile in the city with only one building in between, Afterwards I droped it once from about 3 feet and would act up often, causing a useless operation.
