The hook on my 27 foot boat trailer doesn't fit into the Captain Hook. The hook on the the trailer for the 18 foot boat does. But the geometry is wrong. To introduce the strap hook into the boat eye you have to come in from a significant angle, can't do it with the handle anywhere near parallel to the tow strap. Even with the proper angle, the cradle is so thick that you can't get enough of the tow strap hook into the bow eye for the strap hook to latch onto the eye. It simply does not work. Will wind up using it as a back scratcher, it works much better for that application

I like the quality and feel of the hook. But, my winch does not have a "standard" hook. I'll just buy a new winch strap that has a compatible size.

I read the reviews and saw how many had a problem with the hook fitting. I tried it and it holds my winch hook. I did have a problem hooking it from the right side of the boat hook. I tried it from the left side and it goes right on. It is a great product if it works for your winch. I say give it a try.

Rated 1 out of 5 Not Worth the Money
I bought this hook hoping it will help get my trailer strap hooked onto the boat. Well if the hook doesn't fall out before it reaches the boat, it doesn't hook on the boat as the design is faulty. The hook on the strap is too far in the hook which leaves it almost impossible to hook to the boat. The top part gets in the way. Again not worth the money.

I'm concerned that the additional clearance between the bow and inside of bow eye (handle on the 1436) that this device requires will make it unusable on the Topper. My winch hook is 'standard'.Thanks!
