Caldwell Handy Shooting Rest
Nice rest for target shooting but not the best for sighting in a rifle. If you are looking for a rest for target shooting this is it. But for sighting in a rifle I would get something with cushion to rest the forearm on.

better than a sand bag
For the price, the "Handy Rest" is tough to beat as a rifle forearm rest or a handgun rest. The rest has a nut that allows the main shaft to be lowered or raised, and there is an additional piece that comes with it that can be added as a hand rest for shooting handguns. Also the base and shaft/cradle are able to be dismantle from each other to allow easy transport in a backpack and ammo can.
At the private range I shoot at the Handy Rest definitely beats the 3 pieces of cut 2" x 4" s that are nailed together that are there for propping your firearm up off the bench or the usual sandbag solution found at most public ranges.

I shoot a .308, and my son shoots a .22. We have been using this rest for 2 years, about 2 to 3 times a month, and never had a problem! Great rest!!
