Great Product I am very satisfied with this rest. I am planning on using it while hunting from the ground with a crossbow. I really am very pleased with the advantage of being able to tilt it up and down and swing around. Adjustable legs are long enough to accommodate any situation. The adaptability to fit any type horizontal weapon is very useful. The only problem I have, is that it is not camouflage color, but I am going to fix that. For those whom shoot the crossbow, these are very useful. A crossbow is kinda heavy compared to a compound bow or a even a gun. The crossbow is very bulky and a good rest is very useful for this type bow. I have to say that those who think the crossbow is cheating compared to a compound bow, have a lot to learn as I did. The crossbows and arrows are nice and as accurate as you make them, just as a compound bows and arrows. The crossbow is not as forgiving as a compound and not a long distance weapon as some think (30) yards on a deer. Try this Caldwell DeadShot along with a crossbow and you will be glad you did. Extra Limb! I purchased this rest after having a total shoulder replacement surgery two years ago. I love shooting long range and had just had a new long range rifle built, before I found out I would need to have my surgery. A Dr. friend told me about this rest, I got one, and with-in three months of my surgery I was able to shoot under 4MOA groups at 900 yards. I did have a flyer once in a while but, all in all, made shots I couldn't have even tried without this rest. I have also used it turkey hunting with my crossbow successfully. So far, 27 coyotes, two turkeys, two whitetails, one elk and hundreds of rock chucks have disliked this rest immensley. October 15, 2014
I waited 10 years for this product I have a major problem to my 2 shoulders following a hockey accident. I couldn't support anymore my crosbow or my fire arm for hunting. I waited about 10 years for this kind of product so I could start hunting again and go to the firering club. I am so satisfied of the Caldwell DeadShot FieldPod that I bought one for my hunting companion who is also extremely satisfied of his new acquisition. It is light, sturdy, easy to use and especialy handy in a tight space like in a hunting tent. Thank you very much for your exceptional service to customer. I realy enjoy your Web page. I am sorry for the english wrighting, I am not used to it. . February 11, 2013
Best portable gun rest ever. I bought this item looking for a dependable stable gun rest. IT IS THE BEST it only takes about if a minute or two to set up but it won't tip or fall it's a tripod stand. It can be adjusted from 20 inches to 42. Where the gun actually touches the rest can be adjusted up and down longer and closer. Over the shoulder compact gunrest. I took this product out for the first time Saturday, I didn't see anything then Sunday I shot a big 120 pound doe with a muzzleloader. Big deal right but I had iron sights and I beleive that if I didn't have this product I would of missed that 167 yard shot. I guess the only bad thing about this product is that the highest you can abjust it to is a sitting position. But unless you are in a really tall hunting chair this adjusts right to it. I shoot my long range .300RUM custom on this without any problems. The total weight of my firearm with scope is 13lbs 9oz.
The rifle is 54" over-all with a 143/8" LOP and a 30" barrel. It holds it up without any problems. I think it would support up to 25lbs easy.
