Works on inboards, outboards, and I/O steering cables. Seals moisture out, puts lubricant in. Prevents corrosion and freezing to -40°F. I bought this kit for an older (83) Mercury 150 hp.
V6. This model has 2 cables. Neither lube nut would fit on my motor due to the design of the motor so it was worthless for me. I did use the lube included to lube the cables while I had them apart and it worked well.

I purchased this to put on my 2004 Yamaha 40hp motor. If you follow the instructions it will be an easy install. It works well.

I also bought the two nut version, however it was because it was the only one there that someone hadn't stolen the nut out of the package and they had no single nut packages.
However, even though it said Johnson/Evinrude or japanese motors, it works just fine on my Mercury Force 40hp motor and it did a great job of lubing that stiff steering right up. Now its nice and smooth action.

I ordered the Cable Buddy II thinking that the two nuts were better than buying just the one. When it arrived I learned that the 2 nut versions is for more advanced steering systems with 2 cables. It also came for a japanese motor or a Johnson and I have a Mercury. The descriptions are very vague on the website. I plan on returning and hopefully ordering the right one.
