my first muzzleloader, I was on paper out of the box and on bullseye at 100 yds in six shots. I ordered it over the phone it Shipped as promised arrived on time, I couldn't be happier.

i went to range but had to scope in rifle... after # shots was shooting 1 inch groups at 100yds. easy to clean very light and powerful. this gun does what i want with no problems... Thanks CVA

Picked up the Optima 2 days before the deer firearm season, only took 3 deys from the time I ordered it (thanks Bass Pro). Took it to a friends house to shoot and sight it in. first shot was 3" low & 3" left @ 25yds, bore sight got me on the paper. Took 8 shots all together, the last 3 took out the "X" @ 50yds. Using (2) 50grn tripple7 pellets and a Hornady 240grn .44 hp sabot I have taken a buck and (2) does from 100-150yds all through the heart. This gun hits where I aim it every time..... Very Pleased

I was looking for a nice muzzleloader to hunt deer with, and i chose this one because of the reasonable price and the great features. I dont regret it at all! It took a long time to sight in the scope, but now that its sighted in it will hit the center of the paper consistently at 100 yards using just plain old powerbelt hollowpoints. The thumbhole stock isn't what i thought it would be, i recommend just buying the standard stock. The thumbhole is good for left or right handed shooters. If you want a black powder gun that is just as easy to use as a single shot rifle, i recommend this gun.

You have two options - change the powder to a lower-residue one like Jim Shockey's Gold, or Pyrodex pellets, or bore-brush it after your shots.A:Â
i use homardy SST and they sre very accurate...A:Â

Make sure you run a wet patch with cleaning solution followed by a dry patch down your barrel between shots. This should make it much easier to load. You will "feel it" when the patch reaches where the powder has fowled the barrel when you reach it. If the you still feel this area when you run the dry patch down the barrel I would repeat the process. I use IMR white hots and this works for me everytime.A:Â

It is not pre-sighted. You'll have to sight in the scope just like you'd sight in any scope.I would start at 50, get it spot-on, click your up/down to 100, see where you're at, zero it in and then adjust your line-of-fire to meet your needs.

they say usually sited in for 100 yds... i still had to site it in but after 3 shots it was great shooting 1 inch groups at 100 yds... buy it i love mine.. im in fall river ma so see you out there.. be safeA:Â
more than likely 50 yds which is where you should always start with a new gun unless you have it bore sighted at 25 yds.A:Â
A factory bore-sighting in my opinion is a good place to get you started, but never reliable to take out in the field. I like to start at 25 yards and see just where I'm at on the paper, then continue as if you were sighting in any scope you just installed yourself until you get to your comfort zone. Mine is around 150 yards for a long shot around here, and 50 - 75 for an average shot.A:Â
Mine was hitting about a 10" high at 50 yards.I'm guessing it was setup for 200.
I moved the sights down to the bottom notch and started hitting 3 inches above center at 50 and dead on at 100.

My experience was it was boresited for 50 yrds. You will be on the paper straight out of the box but will need to site in the scope from there.1 of 1
