With this powerful transom jack, one switch lets you easily set optimum motor height throughout all speeds. This self-contained and waterproof hydraulic unit, with permanent magnet 12V motor, has 5" of vertical travel. It features a high-strength extruded aluminum mounting bracket that sets your motor back 5-1/2" to let it run in cleaner water. This jack has many advantages like quicker starts, better prop clearance, increased speed, more versatility, and reduced fuel consumption. this jack plate works great. the position indicator shaft broke the first time i lowered it. it appears there was not enough clearance for it to miss the transom plate. there isn't any slop in the rollers so i don't know what the problem is. who should i contact about this problem it is only 2 weeks old have fished with every day

Nice to have for the open water a must for the flats. The gage is accurate, but the speed of the unit itself is a little slow. I can’t complain too much I use mine in salt water most of the time to run my boat in 4 inches of water and it has never let me down. Pretty easy to install in an afternoon with a friends help. Improved top speed by 6mph, plain in much less time, boat handles better in rough water.

I have the CMC PL-65 Hydraulic on my Tracker Tournament V-18. I use it to jack a 150 Optimax. I have had this unit in service for about one year now. I have about 300 hours on it and so far it has performed well. I would have given this jack plate 5 stars but I have found the unit to be a little bit too SLOW. I believe that CMC has a new "high speed" version of this jack plate. I think I will look into this new high speed unit next time around. Thus 4 out of 5 stars.

It should, as long as you have a transom that will accept it.

I've never seen anyone try it. It does add a lot of weight to the transom, so you might not be able to put one on a jon boat. Check with a boat deaer for a better answer.Answers

I would not recommend it for an 8hp. Overkill comes to mind. There are some fixed mount plates out there that are much cheaper and will work well for you.

This unit weighs about 25-30 lbs. I use mine to jack a 150 Optimax so this unit might be overkill for your 8hp.Images for this Answer
