Mackeral tempter These skirts tempt skittish spanish mackeral when they are used over garfish or ballyhoo as you yanks call them. They survive lots of hits unlike soft plastic skirts or lures. April 7, 2010
Outdoorrednecks favorite tuna bait Sea witches catch a big number of our tunas every year.Rigged with ballhoo, they are top catchers of yellowfins and dolphin. You will not catch us leaving the dock with out these proven fish catchers. July 11, 2006

A:
I have done a lot of reading on colors best used for all types of saltwater species. But it seems to me that there are too many different opinions on top of the fact that when I try them out there never seems to be a steady pattern that works. The one thing that does make sense are the different depths that a color can go before the fish can no longer see the color at all. Also the water clarity has to be taken into consideration. I know that reds and oranges disappear first, then yellows and greens. Colors like blue and purple still maintain visibility at the deepest depths. If this isn't working, my all time go to combo is red/white. Seems like I catch the most of all different species with those colors. I'm no expert when it comes to colors. Just my experience. Hope this helps.

A:
This particular lure doesnt come with a weight on the head, its more of a skirt type of lure that is just meant to emphasize the looks of your natural bait. You can do a lot with this lure just by adding 1/2 ounce to an 1 ounce jig head.
