Rated 5 out of 5 by Great choice for T/C Encore After comparing many scopes Im glad I purchased this one. I had it mounted & boresighted (50 Cal.T/C Encore, 250 gr T/C shockwave) and after 8 shots at 100 yd's w/ minor adjustment in elevation, The last 5 of them grouped 2" or less. My only regret was not having enough daylight to use the other lower crosshairs on the scope to shoot out to 250 yd's to see how accurate this scope really is. The only disadvantage I think are the lens covers.They are a very nice product but they do tend break easily when bumped while they are open. Overall, I would recommend this scope to any one shooting a newer muzzleloader who wants to hit the 100 yd mark every time. January 16, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by HD clarity Just purchased this scope a couple of days ago. Mounted it on a CVA Accura MR 50 cal. Took the set up to the range. Started at 50 yrds with target on a 4x4 piece of card board so I could see where it was hitting even if I didn't the target on the first shot. First shot hit 8 in. low, 4 in. to the right. Made adjustment, hit 2 1/2in. low, in the middle. Swabbed the barrel with bore butter followed with dry patch. 3rd shot hit same spot alittle to the left. Made another adj. Hit 2in. high in the middle. Shot three more, 1in group at 50 yrds. Swabbed between the 2nd and 3rd shot. Probably didn't need to but it made it easier to load. Using 2 pellets of White hots. Used both Power belt 245 gr. and Hornady 250 gr. SST. Got better accuracy from Hornady. Could really pick up the the target with absolute clarity. Real easy to pick up target fast with about 4 1/2 in eye relief. Overall after 1st shot I went up 16 clicks, 12 left. Had rifle resting on sand bags. I had a good experience with it and would recommend it. Also used Win. 209 shotshell primers, really don't need to use the specialty primers in my opinion. December 31, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Scope for the money I mounted this scope to a CVA Accure V2 50 cal muzzle loader for a New Mexico elk hunt. The scope was ultra clear and very durable. Used from dawn to dusk hunting. The light gathering was excellent. No change in impact when going thru the power ranges, An extra bonus was the price, very reasonable for such high quality optics. Recommended by a dear friend who is a TV celebrity and yes I agree with him, "This is a game changer". October 12, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by good for the money ordered it online, when i received it , the lense was cracked, called bass pro, it was easy, i took it to the bass pro here in OKC, and they exchanged it , no problem. mounted and sighted in easy, season stars in 3 weeks, cannot wait October 4, 2011

You should be able to use the medium rings/mount with the 40mm objective diameter. For a 50 mm you would need to go to a high.

Details: 
I have an H&R Ultra Slug Hunter Single Shot Shotgun. It has the rail and is ready to mount a scope. I dont really like the recticles of the "shotgun" scopes, and was wondering if something like this would work. Any other suggestions are appreciated.

In my opinion it would work, although you would have to make sure you have plenty of clearance between the hammer spur and the scope. Take the rifle(unloaded, and preferably broke down) to Bass Pro or your dealer to check.

If you're shooting a shotgun, the eye relief is very important. The more eye relief....the better.

I found that the Hornady 250 gr. SST with either 100 grns. or 150 grns. of IMR White Hots. Start with 100 grns. Note: some black powder rifles are not set up for magnum loads(150grns). Make sure you check with the manufacturer. 100 grns would be sufficiant for out to 125yrds.

I recommend Blackhorn 209. I've tried 777 both loose and pellets and Blackhorn 209 is BY far the best! Zero clean up, no powder burn ring and very consistent shot to shot. I have fired over 15 shots with out cleaning, try that with the others. I also use a Barnes TEZ 250 grain sabot bullet combination. 3 shot groups less than 1 inch using a CVA Accura V2.
