Rated 2 out of 5 by Nice Bino however I gave this a low rating to draw attention to the fact which is stated in other reviews, that the objective lens covers for this binocular is absolutely worthless! How could Bushnell create an otherwise spectacular binocular and put these worthless lens covers on it is beyond me. I was able to correct the problem by paying an additional $26.00 for two Butler Creek Tactical flip up lens covers size 33-34 for the 10 x 42 binoculars. December 8, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great buy! I have the 10X42 in the cammo. These are really good quality and for the price you cant go wrong. I think these should be compared to ones in the $600 price range. Really good buy. September 30, 2013

Hello, the time you will notice the difference will be in early morning or late afternoon. If these are the prime times you will be using the binocular it would be worth the extra $50 to chose the 10X42.

Thank You, Bushnell

I personally have had both and YES it definately is worth the difference. You get an extra 10-15 mins, and even if you don't get a shot on the deer you see just before nightfall you still can see him, and thats what makes you come back, so if you sit til dark you may as well glass til dark!!

There is a difference the larger the second number the more light will be allowed in over a further distance. Since they are both ten power the biggest difference will bill the further away you are trying to see. If you are using them for closer distances you could probably get by with the 10X36 if you are going to go out further to 100 to 200 yards and beyond i would consider splurging and getting the 10x42 your field of view will increase quite a bit as well.
