Hello, the time you will notice the difference will be in early morning or late afternoon. If these are the prime times you will be using the binocular it would be worth the extra $50 to chose the 10X42.

Thank You, Bushnell

I personally have had both and YES it definately is worth the difference. You get an extra 10-15 mins, and even if you don't get a shot on the deer you see just before nightfall you still can see him, and thats what makes you come back, so if you sit til dark you may as well glass til dark!!

There is a difference the larger the second number the more light will be allowed in over a further distance. Since they are both ten power the biggest difference will bill the further away you are trying to see. If you are using them for closer distances you could probably get by with the 10X36 if you are going to go out further to 100 to 200 yards and beyond i would consider splurging and getting the 10x42 your field of view will increase quite a bit as well.
